Parler de soi sans fautes de temps

L'oral : présenter, commenter, dialoguer · niveau 3 (difficile)

Énoncé

Rédiger, en anglais, une réponse orale d'environ 120 mots à la question Why did you choose a preparatory class, and what have you learnt from it so far?, puis relever dans votre réponse chaque verbe conjugué et justifier son temps. Corriger enfin ces trois phrases d'un candidat : (a) I am in prépa since September 2025. (b) Last year I have read a book which changed my view. (c) If I would be admitted, I will specialise in marketing.

Corrigé

Proposition (environ 120 mots) : I chose a preparatory class because I wasn't ready to specialise at eighteen. I enjoyed history and economics as much as mathematics, and I wanted a course that would keep all three alive for two more years. What I have learnt so far is mostly a way of working. I've had to read faster, write under time pressure and accept criticism every week, which I found hard at first. I've also discovered that I like explaining things: in our study group, I usually end up preparing the summaries for the others. If I'm admitted to your school, I'd like to build on that, perhaps by working in consulting, where explaining complex things clearly is part of the job.

Les temps. Chose, wasn't, enjoyed, wanted, found : prétérit, des faits achevés, situés au moment du choix. Would keep : futur dans le passé. Have learnt, 've had to, 've discovered : present perfect, un bilan qui va jusqu'à aujourd'hui (so far). Like, end up : présent d'habitude. If I'm admitted…, I'd like : présent après if, conditionnel de souhait dans la principale.

Corrections. (a) I have been in a preparatory class since September 2025 : situation qui dure, present perfect avec since et un point de départ. (b) Last year I read a book which changed my view : un repère passé révolu (last year) impose le prétérit. (c) If I am admitted, I will specialise in marketing : jamais will ni would dans la subordonnée en if de condition ; présent dans la subordonnée, futur dans la principale.
