Voici un document écrit pour ce livre. Rédiger l'introduction orale (trois ou quatre phrases) : nature du document, sujet, thèse ou tension, question posée. The town of Brenton has become the first in the region to ban smartphones in all its secondary schools, not just in lessons but during breaks. Head teachers report calmer playgrounds and fewer cases of online bullying spilling into the school day. Some parents, however, object that they can no longer reach their children, and several pupils argue that the ban treats them as unable to manage their own lives. The town council says it will review the policy after one year.

Corrigé

Proposition : The document I was given deals with a decision taken by the town of Brenton: a total ban on smartphones in its secondary schools, extending even to break times. It sets the reported benefits, according to head teachers, against the objections of some parents and pupils. Beyond this local case, it raises a question many countries are now asking: should schools protect teenagers from their phones, or teach them to use them responsibly?

Ce qui fait la note. La nature du document est dite sans calque (the document I was given deals with) ; le cas est résumé en une phrase, avec sa précision essentielle (even to break times) ; la tension est formulée (sets… against) ; la question finale élargit sans quitter le sujet, et elle servira de problématique au commentaire. On évite this text talks about et l'annonce d'un plan scolaire (first we will see).
