Language Functions
In the F and G sections of the national exam you are asked to complete the exchanges: short conversations where you choose or write the missing line. To succeed, you must recognise the language function behind each turn — is the speaker offering help, complaining, apologising, agreeing? This unit reviews the most common functions, their usual expressions, and a short original dialogue for each.
