Big companies have a lot of power and they get a lot of data about people. This is a big problem for democracy, because people don't know what happens with their data. The governments must do something, for example make new laws, but it is difficult because these companies are very rich and they can pay a lot of lawyers.
Corrigé
Proposition : Technology now shapes almost every aspect of public life. A handful of tech giants wield considerable power and harvest vast amounts of personal data, often without users knowing how it will be used. This poses a serious threat to democracy. Governments have begun to tackle the issue by passing stricter data-privacy legislation, yet enforcing it remains an uphill struggle: these firms have the resources to mount lengthy legal challenges against any regulator.
Ce qui a changé. Les mots vagues sont remplacés : very important, shapes almost every aspect of ; big companies, tech giants ; a lot of power, wield considerable power ; get a lot of data, harvest vast amounts of personal data ; a big problem, a serious threat. Les collocations : wield power, pose a threat, tackle the issue, pass legislation, mount a legal challenge.
