Reformuler sans recopier
Le résumé analytique comparatif : lire un dossier, le restituer en anglais · niveau 2
Énoncé
Reformuler en anglais chacune de ces phrases d'un dossier (écrites pour ce livre), sans reprendre ni sa structure ni ses mots principaux, et sans en changer le sens : (a) Young voters are not apathetic; they simply do not see their concerns reflected in the choices on offer. (b) Every pound spent on early childhood saves several later on in health and justice. (c) The company did not so much create a new market as take over an old one. (d) Few of the promised factories have actually been built.
Corrigé
(a) The author attributes young people's low turnout not to indifference but to a political offer that ignores their priorities. La négation not… but est conservée, mais la phrase passe du constat (are not) à l'explication (attributes… to).
(b) Investing in the very young is presented as a way of cutting future health and criminal justice costs. Every pound… saves several devient une idée générale ; on évite d'inventer un rapport chiffré que le texte ne donne pas.
(c) The firm is described as having absorbed an existing market rather than invented one. La structure not so much… as (« moins … que ») est rendue par rather than, qui garde la hiérarchie des deux idées. Contresens à éviter : comprendre que l'entreprise a créé un marché.
(d) Most of the factories that were announced have yet to materialise. Few est négatif (« peu ») : a few (« quelques-uns ») serait un contresens partiel. Have yet to rend not actually sans le recopier.
