- Teenagers who use social media most are the most anxious; therefore social media make teenagers anxious.
- Since the platform changed its algorithm, misinformation has fallen. The new algorithm works.
- Nobody I know believes conspiracy theories, so they are a marginal phenomenon.
- A study of 200 students found X; students in general therefore do X.
Corrigé
- Heavy social media use is associated with higher reported anxiety; the direction of the relationship remains unclear.
- Reported misinformation has fallen since the change, though other factors changed at the same time.
- My own circle is not a representative sample, and tells us nothing about prevalence. — échantillon de convenance : on généralise depuis un entourage non représentatif.
- A study of 200 students found X; whether this holds for students in general would depend on how the sample was drawn.
