Débat à deux voix. Sur la question « Should there be a minimum age for social media accounts? », rédigez en anglais deux interventions de six à huit lignes, l'une favorable, l'autre défavorable. Chaque voix cite un élément vérifiable, reprend un mot de l'autre pour le retourner, et n'attaque jamais les personnes.

Voix A (pour) : We already set ages for driving, voting and buying alcohol, and nobody calls those rules an attack on freedom. The internal research disclosed in 2021 suggested that a platform's own teams were aware of effects on some younger users, and acted slowly. A minimum age would at least force a design decision to be made openly rather than by default. It would not solve everything; it would end the pretence that thirteen-year-olds simply happen to be there.

Voix B (contre) : Openly is exactly the problem: an age rule is enforced by asking for identity documents, and that means every user, of every age, becomes identifiable to the platform. The measure that is meant to protect the youngest would end anonymity for everyone else. There is also the question of what teenagers would move to instead, since smaller and less moderated services are one click away. Design obligations may reach the same goal without building an identity database.
