- The company allegedly deleted thousands of accounts overnight. — adverbe placé devant le verbe ; il signale une accusation non jugée.
- According to a national daily, the minister met the platform's lawyers last month. — la source est nommée : c'est elle qui engage sa responsabilité.
- The dataset is understood to have contained medical records. — is understood to signale une information tenue pour fiable par la rédaction sans être officielle ; pour un fait antérieur, l'infinitif devient to have + participe.
- The regulator is said to be about to open an inquiry ou … is reported to be considering an inquiry. — is said to + infinitif ; la rumeur ne s'énonce jamais au futur simple.
