- Although he was exhausted, he finished the race.
- When the water is heated, it evaporates.
- While she was waiting for the bus, her brother read the paper.
Corrigé
- While waiting for the bus, she read the paper. — même sujet.
- Although exhausted, he finished the race. — même sujet.
- When heated, water evaporates. — sujet impersonnel évident.
- Ellipse impossible : les sujets diffèrent (she / her brother). **While waiting for the bus, her brother read the paper* ferait du frère celui qui attend.
La condition, en une ligne. L'ellipse n'est licite que si le sujet supprimé est identique à celui de la principale. Sinon, l'anglais rattache automatiquement le participe au sujet de la principale, et la phrase dit autre chose que ce qu'on voulait.
