Exemple sur Blowin' in the Wind (Bob Dylan, 1963) : Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind, released in 1963, poses a series of unanswered questions: how many roads must a man walk down before he is called a man? How many times must the cannonballs fly before they are forever banned? The refrain — ``The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind'' — suggests that the truth is both obvious and ignored. The song became an anthem of the civil rights movement and of the anti-Vietnam campaign. Its power lies precisely in its indirection: it names no politician, no war, no injustice, and can thus be transposed to countless contexts. Arguably, this is what makes protest songs endure: they diagnose power without instructing the listener.
