Comparez Uncle Sam Wants You (1917) et We Can Do It! (1943) en 8-10 phrases. Quels sont les codes de la propagande visuelle qu'elles partagent ?
Corrigé
Exemple : Both posters share several codes of visual propaganda. First, they use a direct address to the viewer — Uncle Sam pointing his finger, Rosie the Riveter raising her fist — that creates an implicit dialogue. Second, they simplify the message: no context, no ambiguity, one imperative. Third, they use bold colours and iconic silhouettes designed for rapid recognition. Fourth, they mobilise a national symbol (Uncle Sam) or a collective figure (Rosie, the working woman). However, they differ in gender politics: Flagg's poster targets young men for military service, while Miller's poster addresses women workers behind the front. Interestingly, Miller's poster was largely unknown until the 1980s, when it was rediscovered and re-invested with a feminist meaning it did not originally carry.
