Mettez ce récit au passé. Attention aux ruptures : certaines actions forment l'arrière-plan, d'autres surviennent.
It (be) a cold morning. Anna (wait) for the bus when she (notice) a small dog beside the shelter. It (shiver). She (take) off her scarf and (wrap) it around the animal. While she (look) for its collar, the bus (arrive). She (let) it go.

It was a cold morning. Anna was waiting for the bus when she noticed a small dog beside the shelter. It was shivering. She took off her scarf and wrapped it around the animal. While she was looking for its collar, the bus arrived. She let it go.
La logique du récit. Le prétérit continu pose le décor et les actions qui durent (was waiting, was shivering, was looking) ; le prétérit simple fait avancer l'histoire, événement après événement (noticed, took, wrapped, arrived, let). While annonce presque toujours l'arrière-plan, when l'irruption.
Le piège. let est un verbe invariable au prétérit : let / let / let. Écrire letted est la faute que ce texte cherche.
